Sloping Block and Smart Design
A bushfire-compliant renovation that makes the most of a steep site, combining careful planning with natural beauty and custom-crafted details.
From Draft to Dream: A Bushland Renovation Built with Purpose
When these homeowners found themselves stuck with a set of hand-drawn renovation plans and no clear path forward, Built to Matter Homes stepped in to guide the entire design and build journey. From planning approvals through to final handover, this transformation showcases how expert direction and considered design can bring a vision to life.
Embracing the Landscape on a Sloping block
Set on a steep block, the home was built to bushfire BAL-FZ standards, requiring a thoughtful and strategic approach. Large windows were positioned to maximise natural light and provide tranquil views of the surrounding bushland, blending the home’s interior with the environment. The lower level was reimagined to house a custom gym, laundry, and bathroom—making full use of the site's natural slope.
Balancing Design Detail with Functionality
One of the standout features of this renovation is the custom dining table made from solid spotted gum, seamlessly keyed into the waterfall edge of the stone island bench—an elegant blend of craftsmanship and practicality. Every element was selected to complement the setting, enhance usability and deliver a refined yet grounded living experience.
