Founded in 2011 by Joel Basha, Built to Matter Homes is a family-run business specializing in luxury custom homes and high-end renovations.
With a dedicated team of building designers, carpenters, and project managers, we guide homeowners through every stage of their building journey—ensuring a seamless, enjoyable experience from start to finish.
A Legacy of Excellence in Home Building
Building is in our blood. Our late grandfather, John Binet, was a renowned luxury home builder in Sydney.
As children, we spent weekends touring open homes, developing a deep appreciation for quality craftsmanship.
That passion led us here—creating homes that are beautiful, functional, and built to last.

Joel Basha
FOUNDER and LICENCED BUILDER
Joel founded Built to Matter Homes with a passion for craftsmanship and community. Starting at Binet Homes, he honed expert carpentry skills and a love for custom building.
Known for his approachable nature and ‘can-do’ attitude, Joel makes the home-building journey seamless.
When not on site, he’s outdoors with his wife and two boys, enjoying beach days or local cafés.

Rachel Ferris
GENERAL MANAGER
Rachel - Joel’s sister - ensures the business runs smoothly behind the scenes, supporting business growth and customer experience.
With a strong background in marketing and operations, she brings strategy and energy to the team.
On weekends, she’s either with family or chasing her toddler through the garden in Turramurra.

Jordan is a detail-focused project manager who ensures every job runs smoothly and to spec. With experience across multiple builders, he brings precision and calm leadership to site operations.
Outside work, he’s into fitness, podcasts, and cheering on his partner at NSW Swifts games.

SITE SUPERVISOR & ENGINEER
Abz joined BTM in 2017 and has been a trusted presence on site ever since.
Blending engineering knowledge with hands-on skill, he’s known for reliability, hard work, and a great rapport with clients.
After hours, he’s enjoying family meals or a soccer match at the local park.
